Rachel Firneno, LPC

I am a licensed therapist and proud Veteran of the U.S. Air Force Reserves, currently based outside of Denver, Colorado. I bring both professional training and lived military experience to my work, having spent nearly two decades living and working in the Killeen/Fort Hood area before relocating to Colorado in 2019. Military service is deeply woven into my life—not only through my own service, but as the daughter, sister, mother, and aunt of service members across multiple branches.

My clinical background began in community mental health, where I worked extensively with individuals living with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder. That early work shaped my understanding of trauma, PTSD, and the long-term impact of chronic stress—particularly as it relates to identity, stability, and functioning. Although I no longer work directly in severe mental illness, this foundation continues to inform my trauma-focused, systems-aware approach to care.

Today, I specialize in working with veterans, active-duty service members, first and second responders, and adults impacted by PTSD, trauma, dissociation, moral injury, and high-stress careers. I understand the unique demands of military and first responder culture, including the pressure to perform, compartmentalize, lead, and “push through”—often at the expense of personal well-being.

My therapeutic style is collaborative, respectful, and direct, while remaining grounded in empathy and evidence-based practice. I utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). I am an EMDRIA Approved Consultant and provide a full range of EMDR services, including standard therapy, extended sessions, intensives, and recent/group protocols.

I hold board certifications as a National Certified Counselor (NCC), Board Certified–TeleMental Health Provider (BC-TMH), and Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS). I am licensed to practice in Colorado, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Montana, Florida, and Nevada. In addition to therapy, I provide clinical supervision for therapists in Colorado and Arizona.

Outside of work, I’m most grounded in nature—fishing, practicing archery, and working on our ranch. I value a steady, practical life with my husband and our dogs, and I bring that same steadiness into the therapy space.

My goal is to offer a safe, structured, and supportive environment where you feel understood and respected, not judged or rushed. If you’re ready to address what you’ve been carrying and move forward with clarity and purpose, I’d be honored to work with you.
